Overview
The small Belgian with the majestic backhand won seven majors, four French Opens among them, and Olympic gold in Athens 2004. She reached number one in 2003 and again in 2007-08 after briefly retiring, the first woman to retire while number one. Her all court artistry won admirers across the tour. She retired for good in 2011.
