Pete Sampras
Pistol Pete, 14 majors and six straight years at number one
Overview
Sampras won Wimbledon seven times in eight years from 1993 and finished with 14 majors, the record until Federer passed it in 2009. His second serve and running forehand were the weapons, and his 2000 Wimbledon final win gave him the record. He ended number one six straight years, 1993 to 1998, still the men mark. He never reached a French final.
