Jana Novotna
Wimbledon champion in 1998, five years after a tearful final defeat
Overview
Novotna lost the 1993 Wimbledon final to Steffi Graf after leading in the deciding set and was famously consoled by the Duchess of Kent at the trophy ceremony. She returned to win the title in 1998, one of the most popular victories the tournament has seen. A gifted serve and volleyer, she also won many major doubles titles before her death in 2017.
