Overview
Founded in 1963 as the Federation Cup to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the International Tennis Federation, it was first played in London and won by the United States. It was later known as the Fed Cup and was renamed in 2020 in honor of Billie Jean King. Nations compete for the trophy in a format that has changed several times over the decades.
