French Open
Roland Garros, the clay major of Paris since 1891
Overview
The French Championships began in 1891 and moved to Stade Roland Garros in 1928. The slow red clay of Paris rewards stamina, topspin and patience, and Bjorn Borg, Rafael Nadal and Iga Swiatek built dynasties on it. Nadal lifted the Coupe des Mousquetaires 14 times. It opens the late spring European clay swing and ends in June.
