Jack Kramer
Wimbledon champion of 1947 who built the professional game
Overview
Kramer won the US Championships in 1946 and 1947 and Wimbledon in 1947 with an aggressive serve and volley approach he called the big game. He turned professional and dominated the tour before becoming its leading promoter for years. In 1972 he became the first executive director of the newly formed ATP, and his signature Wilson racket sold in the millions.
