John Newcombe
Newk, seven major titles and a serve and volley master of two eras
Overview
Newcombe won Wimbledon and the US in 1967 as an amateur, then won four more majors across the Open Era boundary, including Wimbledons in 1970 and 1971 and the 1975 Australian Open over Jimmy Connors. His walrus mustache and dominating serve volley made him a fan favorite. He later captained Australia to Davis Cup glory.
