Monte Carlo Masters
Clay tournament above the Mediterranean, running since 1897
Overview
The Monte Carlo Country Club clings to the cliffs of Roquebrune, its center court overlooking the Mediterranean. Founded in 1897, the tournament opens the European clay season. Rafael Nadal won it eight straight times from 2005 to 2012 and added three more, an 11 title record matched only by his own Rome and Barcelona hauls.
