Pat Cash
Wimbledon 1987 champion who climbed into the stands to celebrate
Overview
Cash beat Ivan Lendl in straight sets in the 1987 Wimbledon final and then scrambled up through the crowd to reach his family and coach in the players box, starting a tradition copied by many champions. A natural serve and volleyer in a checked headband, he also helped Australia win the Davis Cup in 1983 and 1986. Injuries limited his later career.
