Overview
The French prodigy won Wimbledon six times between 1919 and 1925 and the French twice, never losing a major final. She played with bandeau and daring, brought balletic movement and celebrity to a stiff sport, and won Olympic gold in Antwerp 1920. In 1926 she turned professional, scandalous then, visionary now, the first tennis superstar.
